Mutual Benefits

2017 saw some great engagement from local businesses, through sponsorship, window dressings, our wristband scheme and special offers.

We have made an exciting new partnership with Penrith based tech company theidol.com as title sponsor through their insurance comparison brand Compare Cover. This was much more than just giving cash, we worked in partnership with them to create a innovative national PR campaign, and they engaged audiences on the day with a 'selfie booth' complete with a Polaroid camera, props, masks and friendly faces along with entering The Drovers Cup. We are continuing to work with them through staff training, looking at innovative ways we can mutually benefit.

"Compare Cover is the major brand of theidol.com, and are based in Penrith in the new development area of Eden Business Park, we have a nice spot overlooking the Thacka. We develop financial comparison technology and insurance products that includes life, travel and pet insurance. We build our own brands and products under Compare Cover, as well as partnering with familiar household name comparison brands such as comparethemarket, GoGompare and Confused.com.

We’re a tech company - our business is actually celebrating its 20th anniversary next year. What started as a lean start-up business in 1999 specialising in online life insurance at the dawn of the internet has evolved into a thriving digital technology business, based right here in Penrith, and that now employs over 50 people and growing!

So, why support Winter Droving? It was easy really.

· We were founded here, grew here and remain based here, most of our staff live within 20 miles of Penrith NSE&W

· For us as a business, this is a great way to raise local awareness of what we do, highlight our contribution to the local economy and allows us a unique platform to showcase us an employer people want to work for.

· We like supporting local causes, we sponsor a local rally car, a Castletown junior football team, and a local teenage Olympic Karate hopeful

· We’re already huge fans of Eden Arts. Many of our staff have enjoyed previous events, including Winter Droving, and have vouched for the creativity, community spirit and huge sense of fun that the events are built on. We knew Winter Droving was an event we wanted to fully get behind.

Our partnership with Eden Arts has, I’m sure they’d agree, extended far beyond our financial support in becoming title sponsor. It’s been a great collaboration between teams in terms of idea sharing, creativity and marketing - all with a shared passion to pull out all the stops in a unique event celebrating the community we’re so proud to be part of.

Whichever way you look at it, it was so important for us to not just support the event but get fully into the spirit of it - From our photo booth trade stand in town, our gallant entry in the Drover’s Cup, sharing of meeting rooms with Eden Arts, to the fantastic promo video jointly produced that got fantastic coverage in all the national newspapers prior to the event.

In the same way that so many businesses have proudly done over the years – we’re delighted to get behind Eden Arts and do all we can to champion living and working in Penrith. Thank you Eden Arts for putting on such a fantastic event!"
