Cine North Young Programmers



WE ARE LOOKING FOR SWITCHED ON PEOPLE WHO WANT TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE TO HOW THINGS WORK AT CINE NORTH.

Cine North is the largest community cinema scheme in the UK, screening a mixture of foreign language, specialised and mainstream films in 58 villages across the north of England. The people who run the cinemas are brilliant. Great people keeping their local communities lively and good places to live.

Cine North Young Programmers aims to bring more young people into the thinking and doing behind Cine North
venues and programming. Designed for people aged 16 -25 who are interested in changing things, shaking things up a bit and making new things happen.


WHAT'S IN IT FOR THE YOUNG PROGRAMMER?

> An all expenses paid trip to one of the UK’s major cities to attend an Independent Cinema Office screening weekend, where you get to see brand new independent cinema that hasn’t been released yet, meet film bods, network with other people who work in the industry, meet other young people who are involved in cinema.

> Mentoring from a professional film programmer

> Programme and run your own Cine North cinema event.

> Make new friends, gain new skills, confidence, contacts. Looks good on a CV too.

      WHAT SORT OF PERSON ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

      > be based/live in/are from Tees Valley, Cumbria, Yorkshire or Lancashire and have easy access to a Cine North venue.

      > Aged 16 - 25 years old

      > Bright

      > Got opinions

      > Want to change things

      > Into film - you could describe yourself as a film ‘geek’ or you might just enjoy going to the cinema a few times a month, or you are into organising events. We need a mix of people, with a variety of tastes and interests.

        WHAT'S THE COMMITMENT?

        > Approx 6 days (this includes two physical meet-ups, some video hangouts and bit of research on your own or with your fellow programmers.)

        > Contribute to the creation of a Young Programmers film menu (select films to go on the menu). Plan a screening at your local venue.

        > Contribute to the creation of a tool kit of how to get young people involved in community cinema.
