Eden Arts ex Chair, Amyn Fazal, talks about his favourite project - C-Art
"Being Chair of Eden Arts gave me the opportunity to meet a great number of talented and dedicated people and I had an enviable “behind the scenes” peek into their project planning. Of course there were so many fabulous and joyous events such as Winter Droving, Picnic Cinema and the numerous evening gatherings in the Old Fire Station. My favourite however has to be the annual festival C-Art and the event that I particularly remember was a few years back in 2015.
There were two dedicated weeks of a focus on a variety of art all showcased from people’s homes and open studios and galleries. Sculpture, painting, craft jewellery and so much more were all there to enjoy and I really enjoyed meeting the artists. Naturally the studios were scattered around the extraordinary Lakes landscape and the year I remember was particularly warm-always a bonus!
C-Art always culminated in a celebration of the talent at an exhibition and awards ceremony at the Rheged. I was blown away by the talent of the artists and the standard of their work. The Lake District has always inspired artists throughout history and Eden Arts carry out a valuable role in keeping that tradition alive.
During our current turmoil, art is more important than ever. When we eventually come out on the other side, art will play a vital role in healing the fabric of our society and strengthen the essence of our being."

Amyn Fazal was Eden Arts Chair of the Board from 2014 to 2016. Amyn was the Chief Executive of Penrith Building Society before standing down in December 2017, and now sits on the Board of Prism Arts as well as other active roles in the community.
